Who doesn’t love a good tortellini recipe? This one is so rich and creamy. Tortellini is a staple in our home since it’s such an easy go-to and a perfect change up from the plain, boring spaghetti nights.

Creamy Tomato and Spinach Tortellini

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 ½ cups baby spinach leaves
  • ½ tsp oregano leaves
  • 2 tsp basil leaves
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • salt & pepper
  • crushed red pepper flakes


  • Boil tortellini. Drain and set aside
  • In a large skillet, add butter and heat until melted
  • Stir in flour, garlic, and onion powder
  • Slowly pour in milk and heavy cream. Whisk until smooth
  • Once simmering, add diced tomatoes, spinach, basil, oregano, parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper
  • Stir in tortellini and sprinkle with crushed red pepper
